Mitsubishi Repair: SHOGAN GLS 2.5 P reg, piston slap, valve lifters

Hi Hope you can help as this noise is driving me mad Two garage inspections have failed to diagnose problem When Shogan is started there is a loud tinkling noise which goes when driving after a while It starts again when in low gear and is very noticeable to other road users Have looked under bonnet and nothing seems to be lose Pls Pls help

Without hearing the noise, I can only speculate as to what the problem could be.  Loud ticking can be a result of bad valve lifters; also referred to hydraulic lash adjusters.  As this clog over time, they can cause a ticking noise.  

Another cause for this noise, which can be more serious is a condition called piston slap.  Piston slap is more of a common problem in GM trucks, but can result in any vehicle if the piston diameter is smaller than the bore of the cylinder. Audible piston slap is typically loudest when the engine is first started up. The pistons then expand with heat reducing the piston to cylinder bore clearance thus, reducing the perpendicular impact of the piston against the cylinder wall and its resulting noise.

You can direct your mechanic to focus on those two things.
