Mitsubishi Repair: my 91 eclipse gsx, eclipse gsx, change good luck

Question
i have a front case oil leak above the timing belt and wanted to know how much it would cost to fix

Answer
Timothy,
The most common cause of this would be a worn crank oil seal.  The seal itself is only around $5, but the labor involved may cost a couple hundred dollars.  But have your mechanic check for leaks using a dye test.  They can circulate a special dye through the oil system and check where the oil is coming out.  It could even be caused by a warped head gasket.  Since any fix would most likely involve removing the timing belt, you should consider replacing the timing belt and balance belt if it's been 45,000 miles since your last change.
Good luck!
