Mitsubishi Repair: Hard Start when Cold 13/15/21/25 engine lights, mitsubishi eclipse gs, mass air sensor

Question
Mr. Falcone,

I just read your post regarding the hard start and the check engine lights you
were getting on you 1994 Eclipse.  I hope you get this message, seeing how
you posted that message in 2004.  I have a 1993 MITSUBISHI ECLIPSE GS 1.8L,
the car runs really well- when its warmed up.  However when it is cold
outside, or after the car sits long enough for the engine to cool down , the
car takes anywhere from 5-25 tries to start and it is amazingly frustrating, i
need help badly.  From reading your post Im getting a similar problem and i
was getting the same engine codes as you.  Please help me, sir- i'm
desperate.

Answer
Philip,
The codes you're seeing correlate to the mass air sensor, located in your air filter housing.  Those codes can get thrown if the harness is not seated proper or if the sensor itself is simply malfunctioning.  Another cause related to an electrical issue could be your car's computer.  You can view this page for more information:

If your ECU shows signs of wear, it could be causing your problem.

But it may be a mechanical issue.  Have your alternator, starter motor, and battery load tested.  This can be done by any mechanic, or if you an AutoZone in your area, they may be able to help you our for free.
Good luck!
