Mitsubishi Repair: throttle, eclipse gst, air leak

i have a manual 1995 eclipse gst 2.0. wen the car is turned on it automaticly revs to about 1000-2000rpms. why might it do this?

When the engine is cold, your idle will be higher; usually between 1000-2000.  But after your engine is at normal operating temperatures, your idle should  be slightly lower than 1000 RPMs consistently.  If your RPMs do not settle than you may have an air leak somewhere in your intake system.  You may need a mechanic to locate where the problem is.
