Mitsubishi Repair: 93 gs, camshaft sensor, eclipse gs

Question
QUESTION: My 93 eclipse gs is not getting any fire to the cylinders. The car was sitting for about 5 years when I bought it and barley ran. I rebuilt the engine in it and drove it for about 500 miles when the thing finally just died. I worked on it for a while and finally got it barley running. I just changed the oxygen sensor and it barley idled. But after not starting the car for a day it would not start again. I'm pretty sure the engine is 100 ok, but just not sure what else it could be. And it is kind of hard to check the timing when it wont run. Please help.

ANSWER: I would go through the trouble and check the timing manually by taking the timing covers of and checking all marks by eye, making sure you cam sprocket lines up, oil pump, crank, and balance gear.

But check your plugs and make sure your getting spark out of each plug of your not make sure your coil pack is good. If there all good then I would make sure that the camshaft sensor is good. Do you know if the car is getting fuel? Please give me a update thanks. I hope this helps thanks again, Kevin

QUESTION: Thanks for the answer. I actually just checked all the timing points on the car and they all seemed to be lined up. Far as getting fuel that is a yes because all of the plugs are wet when I take them out after trying to start the car. The coil pack is new so im guessing that should be ok. I do have some fire in a couple of the cylinders but thats it. I also replaced the ECU on it. I use a analog voltmeter to see if there any codes but there not. I'm not real sure about the cam sensor. I put one in it when i first got the car to see if thats what it was but it did the same thing. But the one i put in it did come from the junk yard. Once again thanks for the help

Answer
Hi, I had a problem like this and noticed it was my camshaft. The best thing to do is make sure your getting voltage at the camshaft sensor first. I think it needs to be between 8 12 if it's more then it's running to hot. Also keep in mind that if the camshaft sensor is bad then the ECU ignores the camshaft and moves onto the Crank sensor. Also check the crank sensor. If this is still not working let me know thanks again. I'll try anything to get this taking care of for you. Thanks again Kevin
