Mitsubishi Repair: intake cracked, engine moves, types of stress

Question
I recently brought a galant that needed a intake manifold. I replaced the intake and noticed that it was cracked around the single weld that connects the four tubes. Now six months later I have the same problem. Is this some factory defect or something else?

Answer
Rudy,
There is nothing specifically that I know of a factory defect, but there are a couple things that can cause this.  One, if the bolts are over torqued, that can cause a crack.  Another thing could be that you may have a worn engine mount.  If your engine moves around a lot while driving, that can put strain on a lot of components and cause these types of stress fractures.  Compounded with the high temperatures, its not uncommon.  You may want to have your mechanic inspect your front suspension and engine mounts checked just so you can rule that out if those are fine.
Good luck!
