Mitsubishi Repair: 91 Mitsu Eclipse wont start, mitsu eclipse, kinds of sensors

Question
I have a 91 Eclipse GS, non turbo. Car won't start, cousin is a mechanic, and when he looked at it, he realized the engine is not getting fuel. We took the fuel pump out, it works. So now we're kinda stumped. The Computer was replaced back in Sept 03. We're in the process of still looking at things. We've been told to put a test light on the FP (on the firewall) haven't done that yet, and also could be a possible blown Cap (capacitor on the ECM). I was curious as to what input you may have on this. Thank you

Answer
Kerri: It takes three things for an engine to run; fuel, air and stark but then a good computer to throw it all together in the right mix so that the engine will start. You say the computer was replaced  in Sept 03, was the computer replaced or rebuilt? Are you sure it is the right computer for your car? Have you ever coded the computer to tell what it might tell you is wrong with the car? You could have a bad sensor or a weak one that is leading the computer to believe something is working when it isn't. There are all kinds of sensors through the engine of your car, if one of those sensors is not doing its job; it will mess up the starting of that engine. So I would code the car and see where that leads you. Worked on a 91 Eclipse before it turned out to be two very costly sensors that were out, together they cost over $500.00 but once replaced the car started. So you need to code the computer and see what it will tell you is going on with your car. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda

Hey the guys here at the shop said you should check and make sure the cables to the battery are tight. Sometimes these little cars are very touchy about those cables.
