Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 Mitsubishi Monterro Sport, crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor

Question
QUESTION: I recently have had trouble with my Monterro.  First it just won't start and we thought it was the fuel filter because it would try to start, but acted like it was not getting gas.  Found out it is not the fuel filters.  The mechanic said it was the crankshaft sensor, so he changed it and the timing belt, well it started to only go about 10 miles and die again not to start.  Then the mechanic said it was the camshaft sensor.  Well that worked for about 15 miles.  Then he said it was the a plate and two pins near the crankshaft sensor.  Well my monterro is still not running.  Any help would be grateful.  Before this happened the monterro was running great.

ANSWER: Judy: You need to find a different shop and have the car coded. As to hook the computer up in your car to the inshop computer, to see what the computer might kick out. Your car is the right age and year for the bad computers so it could be that the computer its self it bad. See what that shows you, the computer controls everything in that car with the help of all kinds of sensors and so it could be the computer is bad. But coding it would help you to understand things better in your car. Don't let your mechanic tell you not to do this, because he is making money off you right now. How many parts do you want to let him replace? Even if the check engine light is not on, try the coding and see what that might show you. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda

QUESTION: We changed the computer and it still does not work.

Answer
Judy: Before you changed the computer did you code the car? Because the computer could have been bad but so could a sensor or two.  Also are you sure this is the right computer for your car? Did you get the computer from parts store? It take three things for a car to run, air, fuel and stark but the right computer to mix all that together with all kinds of sensors through out the car to kick that engine into gear. Have the fuel pump tested, you know don't you that the fuel is what keeps the fuel pump cool if you run your car down to empty to much, you will cook the fuel pump. You need to take that car to a different shop other than the one that you were before, have them check it over and find the problem. Because I can guess on my side and your mechanic can keep charging you for parts but I don't think he knows what is wrong. It time to find a new shop and a new mechnic to let him find the problem on this car. If you check around you could find a an honest shop and one that will fix your car right. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
