Mitsubishi Repair: I own two eclipses, IM trying to fix them, new spark, distributor cap

Question
ok, here goes....my red 94 eclipse( 1.8L) won't start at all. Its been sitting for a little bit however the person who had it before me said it was the distributor. He replaced it with a new one twice and then I replaced it once and it still wouldn't turn. my dad who is a mech at AAMCO in near wilmington said it could be my computer also because that was also a common problem for them. I changed it out and made sure it was for my little 1.8. I charged the battery and it would the engine would turn but it had no fire. I touched the spark plug to the manifold and there wasn't any spark. now, this could be very simple or very hard. I love a challenge but this is kicking my butt. Should I get new spark plugs and have hope or what else could be the problem...your expert advice would defently make my day. thanks

Answer
Char: You know this is a hard one, I was going to tell you to code the computer. But you took out the old computer and therefore the new one would not have any idea what was wrong with the car. Could be you have a  bad sensor or more on the car therefore the new computer is trying to start the car with those readings and they are not right. Have you tryed to turn the distributor cap, to the left or to the right to see if that makes any different?  Did you change the rotor too? Also something else you could have a bad coil, it take a lot of power to bring up that stark. Oh one more thing is the engine turning over? In that are the belts moving as you problem could be the timing belt is bad in the car. So keep me posted on this. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
