Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi Galant / misfire, mitsubishi galant, emissions test

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant DE 2.4L.
The problem I am having is with
hesitation. I took it to a mechanic and
had a diagnostics run, and it said there
was a misfire in cylinder 4. When I
acelerate there is a noise from the
engine. Some times when I driving on the
highway the noise dissapears but when I
slow down the noise comes back. I took
it for emissions test and it did not pass.
The code I got P0304: Cylinder 4 misfire
detected. I also have the 'check engine
soon' light on. Any suggestions?

Patty: Sounds like a bad ignition coil or could be the stark plug is bad too. You will need to take the car to a shop and have them find out what the problem is. And fix it for you. The noise could be that the belt is slipping and so you should have that checked too. That would be my idea but then not hearing the sound. Still if you tell the shop of sound and asked them to check the belts. They might find the problem. Hope this helps and God bless: Linda
