Mitsubishi Repair: 2002 misfire, vacuum leak, gas mileage


Question
i have a 2002 Mitsubishi lancer the engine light came on i checked it out and it said a cylinder 2 misfire so i changed all spark plugs and wires. when i drive the car shacks when i am at ideal and when i put heavy load on the engine like going up hill, feels like i don't have power and the car starts shacking and sputters, dont know what the problem is i think its a bad coil, does get good gas mileage anymore

Alex: I would have the fuel pump tested to make sure it is putting out enough fuel for your car to run on. You know don't you that the fuel is what keeps the fuel pump cool. If you run your car down to empty to much, well with time you will cook that pump. I know with the high cost of fuel, a lot of people are trying to get all they can out of their gas mileage. But my shop has been replacing a lot of fuel pumps of late. You can have the pump tested at a shop, they would know what the pressure should be. It takes three things for a car engine to run... stark, air and fuel. How old is your air cleaner? You also could have a vacuum leak. Also you could have a weak coil.
