Mitsubishi Repair: motor mounts removal and install, motor mounts, hayne

Question
Hi there,
I'm experiencing a lot of low end vibration in my 98 GST.  I replaced the front motor mount and it helped for a bit since it was trashed.  It started coming back and getting worse than before and I was told when one goes, the others tend to follow suit.  So, I have been looking for proper insructions on how to remove the other three to put in new ones but have not been able to find them even in a hayne's manual.  I was curious if you know where to find step by step procedures so I hopefully don't screw anything up!  Thanks,
Chris

Answer
Chris: Try getting a Chilton repair manual sometimes they have a bit more on such things than a Haynes. But one way to do this would be to take it to a shop, as they have all the things one needs to loose or remove the mounts with holding the engine up with a engine puller. Or you could I guess get to strong jacks, a large piece of board, with a friend loosen the motor mounts, slowly jack both jacks together till you have the motor up enough to remove the mounts or to check them. But man, you got to be so careful in doing this all together, safely and then watch so the engine does not fall while your hands are in there checking those mounts. So I think that is a very good reason to let a shop do this for you. It would be safe, they know what they are doing and they have all the right tools for such a job. I hope this helps and God bless... Linda
