Mitsubishi Repair: Mitz Galant non starter, linda hope, autozone

Question
Linda, hope you can help, I have a european Galant 2.5 V6 Auto, recently the car will not turn over.  I have replaced the starter no joy, all of the lights work and the battery is fully charged.  When turning the key to the on position the fuel pump activates but there is just no power going to the starter. I can hear and feel the relays click when trying to activate the starter but as I said no cranking!

Help me i'm really stuck!!

P.s.  cant bump start cos its an auto!

Answer
Darren: You need to check and make sure the starter is hooked up right, all the wires are on as they should be. Sometimes when people put a starter in, they don't hook all the wires up right. Oh heck, you said you replaced, are you sure you hooked it up right? Are you sure the starter you bought is a good one? Are you sure it is the right starter for your car? You could get a voltmeter meter and a repair manual for your car because you will need that for the right readings. Starting with the battery, you can check and make sure everything is putting out the right readings, then the key is turned. That would find your problem. My repair manual also says to check for a broken, loose or disconnected wiring in the starting circuit, it says the that starter is faulty, hey here is one your ignition switch could be faulty. But still check the starter and make sure it is that you put all the wiring on right. Got an AutoZone close by? You could take the starter off and take it into one of those places; as they will test the starter to make sure it is good. Sometimes when you buy a part, you can get a bad one. So try some of those ideas. I hope this helps you and good luck! Linda
