Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi Shogun flashing light, mitsubishi shogun, battery cables

Question
The A/T red light along with the engine light keeps flashing when I brake.  The handbook is not clear as to what A/T is and today the battery was flat and the car wouldnt start.  Can you please tell me what the A/T is and if it would cause the car not to start????

Answer
Lesley: The A/T light is something to do with your transmission, if it comes on while driving you need to have the car checked out at a shop. If the battery light was flashing when you braked it is because the lights were pulling to much power away from the system. I would say you either need a new battery, cables or a alternator. Or could be the belt needs to be replaced that runs the alternator. Don't think that the A/T light would stop your car's engine from starting but rather the light coming on about the battery when you braked is more your problem. I would have all those things I talked about checked. I am sorry this is so late in coming but I was in a crash at a parking lot that left me hurt and so I am behind on things. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
