Mitsubishi Repair: 1993 3000GT Cooling system, haynes repair manual, upper radiator hose

Question
Hi Linda, a few weeks ago my upper radiator hose on my 92 3000gt burst and i had to replace it and flushed the cooling system. i also went ahead and replaced the thermostat and radiator cap.

However, now when i drive my car pushes all the fluid (out through the cap?) and eventually seems to empty the block causing the car to overheat. lately ive just been filling the car up everyday before i use it. any guesses as to whats wrong or how to fix it?

Answer
Daniel: I would say the radiator cap is bad. Because it is what hold the water in the system and keeps it at the pressure it needs to move through the hoses. I would also check the water pump to make sure it is working right but still I think it is that cap. Ok, there is what my repair manual says about overheating... insufficent coolant in system, water pump faulty, radiator core blocked or grille restricted, thermostat faulty, electric coolant fan blades broken or cracked, radiator cap not maintaining proper pressure and ignition timing incorrect. Ok, some ideas to check, this came from my Haynes repair manual. I hope this helps you and good luck! ~Linda~
