Mitsubishi Repair: wet passenger floor ?windshield fluid, mitsubishi spyder eclipse, windshield wiper

Question
QUESTION: The driver side passenger floor is soaking wet.  It is not antifreeze or fluid, it is "water."  It is pooling.  It comes forward under the passenger seat.  My daughter recently refilled an empty windshield wiper fluid tank, and when the hood is up, we have discovered a leak where the tubing meets one of the wiper jets. Is this traveling down and pooling under the seat?  Is this a separate leak?  The roof is not leaking.  It will collect water on a hot day with no rain.

ANSWER: Heidi: What kind of a car is this? miles? do you have ac in this car and do you use it? I am thinking this is from your ac, in the way of a leak or it could be from your condenser or the evaporator. As they are to remove water, could be there is a leak in one of them. As that is the only way I can see that water might end up under the passenger seat. Because there is no known hoses or anything like that for water to get under that seat. Again it will be better if I knew what kind of a car this was. But still either the door has a small hole in it and water gets into it. Then when the car gets hot, the water will flow into the car and so under the seat. Or it comes from that ac parts. You will need to get a shop to check the ac to see that is causing your problems. For the water to come from the tubing for the windshield wiper fluid tank well that would be a long haul and you say it leaks even when it is hot outside with no rain. So I do not think that is where the water is coming from. Most the ac(air conditioner). I hope this helps and good luck! Linda

QUESTION: sorry-Mitsubishi Spyder Eclipse.  We checked the rain drains that the windshield wiper fluids runs into and they seen to be draining and not clogged with debris.  So I guess its the A/C tubing.  We did just run the car in the driveway and some of the consendation is running out onto the driveway so it must not be totally clogged.  We are in the middle of a drought in Florida and I don't think it is a leak in the door.

Answer
Heidi: I got to thinking today and I think I can remember someone else having some what the same idea. Only it was at our shop and it was a pick-up. The floor in front of the passenger seat was getting wet. It was something to do with the ac, I think it had something to do with the mix of the fluid that makes the ac work. I almost think it was because the pick-up did not have enough but it was a few years ago. Listen you really need to take the car to a shop and have them get to the bottom of it. I will go up on mitsubishisucks.com and see if there might be a recall on your car with something like this. There is some recalls on the Spyder Eclipse. See what I find out. Linda
