Mitsubishi Repair: 97 Eclipse Head Removal, haynes repair manual, engine compartment

Question
According to the Haynes repair manual I purchased the 97 Eclipse Head can be removed without removing the engine.  The problem is that I can not get the right side engine mount bracket out.  There is not enough space between the timing belt cover and the engine compartment to remove the bracket?  How is this bracket removed without pulling the engine?  Have to remove the bracket to get the belt cover off.

Answer
Jeff: You put a jack under the engine as you worked on it, right? I always use a small piece of wood to put on the jack to keep things from getting beat up. If you raise the engine just a bit. You should be able to remove the motor mount. And then just leave the jack under the engine to help with the weight of the engine without the motor mount. Remember to be careful raising the engine. Just enough to get the motor mount loose and removed. Also remember not to put any of your body under that engine in case the jack should move or something. Do not want to get hurt doing that. As the whole engine would now be supported by only a jack. Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
