Mitsubishi Repair: Mitsubishi Pajero wont start, crank angle sensor, mitsubishi pajero

Question
You were recently asked a question about a fuel supply problem on a mitsubishi, mine had the exact same problem and went in for the same repair, replace high pressure pump on engine and new fuel filter on pump in tank. Whilst being repaired the mechanic disconnected the battery and now that it is back together the car will not start at all. The problem is as if there is an immobiliser whcih is stopping fuel and spark any idea what this problem may be.

Answer
Graham: It could be a relay or it could be your car's computer. I would get the car coded, that would rule out any problem with the computer or sensors. Are you sure the battery is hooked up right, I know people in to much of a rush and they hook the battery up wrong. + is red cable and - is the black cable. Trying taking the distributor loose and turn it one way or the other. Then try to start the car, the distributor cap has a sensor in it, called a crank angle sensor. This immobiliser could be a relay or it could be the car's computer too. Only way to check the computer is by having it coded. That mean the shop where you take the car, hooks their computer up to your car's computer; then it kicks out whatever is going on in your car's system. Other wise when you open the hood of your car, there should be one or two black boxes that have relays as well as larger fuses. You should check those. But if you do replace any relays, remember to unhook the neg cable off the battery first and then put it back on once the new relay is put back in.  Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
