Mitsubishi Repair: All Dashboard lights are out, dashboard lights, black boxes

Question
My dashboard does not light up. I checked the fuses

Answer
Dawn: I would check to see if any of the relays are out, you might have a bad relay. The relays are in those black boxes in with the engine. Open the hood of the car, look to the driver's side of the car, there should be a black box up by the firewall(that is between the inside of the car and the engine). Then there should be one or two more over by the battery. On the tops of these boxes are what relays are in them. If all of them are ok, then you could have a short in your wiring that is keep those lights from working or the switch might be bad in the part that is to turn those lights on. Oh one more thing if you replace one of those relays, please remember to unhook the neg cable on the battery before you put the new one in. Once the new part is in then rehook that cable. One more thing, over where you turn the lights on, you don't say what kind of a car this is.. but when you turn on the head lights, check to see if there might be a place for making the inside lights brighter or dimmer. As you might just have the lights turned off, as you can do that too but your headlights will stay on.  Hope this helps and good luck! Linda
