Mitsubishi Repair: vibrations on 03 eclipse GS, haynes repair manual, eclipse gs

Question
I would certainly feel too much vibrations on my car (compared to my other mits.car),especially when putting it to Drive mode while steady, but when it starts running or at Park mode, its pretty normal. I also had it checked to the shop & one says normal and the others cant find the problem. Is it really normal? I just bought the car with 50T+ miles on it.
THANKS, APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.

Answer
Frank: Hello. I would try checking the tires on the car, sometimes they can be out of round. So you get this vibration. Or see about having all of them balanced. Most places now days will want to balance the whole car, so all four tires that will often help with this problem. Now this I pulled right out of my repair manual and so things to check. The manual does agree with me on checking those tires before you do anything. Then it says  Install a tachometer (if your car does not have one) inside the vehicle and note the engine speed as the vehicle is driven. Drive the vehicle and note the engine speed at which the vibration is the most pronounced. Now shift the transaxle to a different gear and bring the engine speed to the same point. If the vibration occurs at the same engine speed(rpm) regardless of which gear the transaxle is in, the drivesshift is not the a fault since the driveshaft speed varies. If the vibration decreases or is eliminated when the transaxle is in a different gear at the same engine speed, refer to the following probable causes... 1. bent or dented driveshaft. Check or replace as necessary. 2. Undercoating or build-up dirt, etc. on drivesshift. Clean the shaft thoroughly and recheck. 3. Worn universal joint bearings, remove and inspect. 4. Driveshaft and/or companion flange out of balance. Check for missing weights on the shaft. Remove the driveshaft and reinstall 180-degrees from original postion, then retest. Have the driveshaft professionally balanced. That came out of my Haynes repair manual. You should go out and buy a repair manual for your car. Most parts stores have them and then you could read up on your car. Those repair manuals cost around $20.00 and well worth the money. I don't understand what you mean by 50T+ miles but does not matter. I do most of my work on older Eclipses but still this should give you some ideas what to check. I know I had a car in a few months ago with some of the same problems as you are having and it had to go to another shop and have the driveshift balanced again. Somehow they get out of balanced. But if you bought this car used, you never know what that other person did to the car before you bought it. Is it really normal, no your car should be smooth, these little cars are fun to drive, don't ride so good but they should not have a vibration in them. I hope this helps and good luck! Happy Easter!
