Mitsubishi Repair: Engine Oil leak, engine oil leak, head gasket

Hi,

i have a 2000 Mitsubishi 3.0L GT and wanted to find out what engine oil is used? 10W-60 05 5W-40. also the car looses engone oil and the dealer says they dont see any leak. Is there any other possible explanation for the oil loss?

I would say that 10w/30 would be heavy enough oil for your car. Those other weights that you are talking about are pretty heavy to use in a car like your's. I would say if the dealership can not find a leak, then you have a broken ring on one of your car's pistons and so burning the oil. What color is the smoke that comes out of your car or is it heating? If the smoke is white in color and your car uses water or is heating. Then you could have a bad head gasket.
