Answer
Steve: First off I would have the car coded, that will rule out any problem with the computer or the sensors. AutoZone will do this for free. Check to see if your battery cables are tight. How old is the battery and the cables? Just make sure the fuel pump is giving enough fuel pressure. Could be your fuel pump is going out. Takes three things to make a car go down the road; fuel, air and stark. But the computer has to put all this together to make it work. You know don't you that Mitsubishi farmed out the building of their computers to another company that did not build very good ones? These computers have a piece in them that starts to leak onto other pieces in the computer and with time kills off the computer. Now your car is in the year or the right year for these computers. But not saying this is the problem, just wanted you to know about this. You could have a bad relay too, inside with the engine is three black boxes or maybe two cars are different. Check those, see if there is relay for your fuel pump, as the relay could be getting bad. I have worked on cars with this same problem, a few were due to a bad or weak sensor, a few due to bad computers and a few where due to a bad fuel pump or relay. As long as the engine cuts out but you are able to restart it kind of sounds like the computer as the computer resets it's self and then off you go. But still I would have the car coded and see where that leads you. Hope this helps and good luck!
