Mitsubishi Repair: Radio locked wontreset, auto parts store, battery problem

Question
I have a 2001 Montero that had a battery problem.  When it was disconnected the radio went to a code block. No problem---I thought.  I got the manual out and followed the instructions exactly but the radio would not take the code I tried and I tried over and over again is there some way to override this or do I need to just throw it away and buy a new one? Also what are the steps to get the panel around the radio off - do I pry or are there screws?

Answer
John,
If the code you were given doesn't work, you may have to contact your local dealership service department to get the proper code.  But you shouldn't have to buy a new radio.  As far as removing the radio, I've never had to do that on a 2001 Montero.  If you can find a service manual at your local auto parts store for your truck, that will tell exactly how to remove the radio.
Good luck!
