Mitsubishi Repair: 96 Galant Furl Pump Relay, fuel pump relay, little cars

Question
Linda,
My son was driving his car and it just died.  Engine turns over, but will not start.  Checked power to fuel pump and there is none.  Checked repair manual wiring diagram and see that there is a fuel pump relay.  Problem is, they don't tell me where it is.  Where is it?  Thanks.

Answer
Bill: When you open the hood, looking in at the engine, there should be a few or maybe two or could be three black boxes not very large ones through out the engine area. One should be up around by the firewall on the driver's side of the car, might be more over around by the battery or on the firewall on the right side of the car too. Every car is different. In one of those boxes you should find the relay for the fuel pump. But I would also have the car coded to rule out any sensors are that are bad or weak along with the computer. And also check the timing belt. Don't say the miles but they do with time go. Hope this helps and good luck.

Bill: I am going to do some looking around and see if I can find out where that relay is at. I really don't know but I am getting a lot of questions asking about that. If you would send me, your email address to my email address.. (oppedal50@yahoo.com)I will then send you what I find out. These relays can be anywhere, I know with some Fords it is right on top of the radiator. But I am sure these little cars will not be that easy. But I am going to do some checking right after work tonight. So send me that address, or I will try to remember to send you another post here. Thanks now. Linda
