Mitsubishi Repair: 1993 Eagle Talon 2.0 Turbo Crankshaft Pulley Removal, crank pulley, crankshaft pulley removal

Question
I am trying to get the crankshaft pulley off of a 1993 eagle talon 2.0 turbo engine. I have already removed the 4 12mm outside bolts on the pulley and was wondering if the center bolt needs to come off before the pulley can be removed. I understand it also holds the crankshaft sprocket on the inside. Any info would be helpful.

Answer
Steven,
You do not need to remove the large center nut.  Once the 4 bolts are removed, you should be able to remove the crank pulley.  It may be slightly stuck to the sprocket due to dirt and rust build-up, but a few taps with a rubber mallet (or extremely careful taps with a hand sledge) should break the pulley free.  Just be sure not to damage the pulley.
Good luck!
