Mitsubishi Repair: 1998 RVR Radio head unit removal, radio out, radio head

Question
Hi I need to remove the radio headunit to replace it. I can not work out how to get the old one out. I have a 'new shape' 1998 RVR. Can you point me in the direction of how to get the radio out? Thanks HElen

Answer
Helen: I would either try to get a repair manual for your car or check with Mitsubishi for one. When working on such a thing, you should always unhook the neg.cable from the battery, then use a small screwdriver to remove the trim panel, then the old radio will have screws holding it in, each car is a bit different. If you have remove all the screws and still the radio will not come out. Get a very small mirror and check around the radio sometimes there is one you might have missed. If the radio has been in the car for a long time, you might have to pull hard to get it to move, once the radio comes out, then reach behind it and unplug the electrcal connector and the antenna lead. Your new radio should come with paperwork on how to put it in. Hope this helps and good luck!
