Question
I am replacing the 420A engine on my 96 eclipse gs. I wanted to know if i could buy a turbo-ed motor and Put it in... If so what other things might i want to consider?

Answer
Bryan: Are you doing this work yourself or are you having someone else doing it for you? I would say you should stick with the same kind of engine that your car had before, other wise you might have to change a lot of things to get that other engine to fit. How long do you want to be without your car? If you are having someone else put the engine in for you, ask them what they think. I had a friend that put a Ford Mustang engine in a MG, though it will burn it's tires off; he spent a long time rebuilding the car to make that engine fit. Your Eclipse is a fast little car now, why a turbo motor? I mean you have to make a list as to why you want to do this. Then talk it over with yourself if you are doing the work, or the other person. Get yourself a repair manual for your car and see what it tells you. When I replace a engine for someone, we put back the same engine the car had, or else I rebuild the one that is in it now. So I guess I am not the one to be asking this. Sorry. I wish I could help you more. Good luck!
