Mitsubishi Repair: 1995 eclipse problem, seatbelt light, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
I have a 1995 Mitsubishi eclipse 5 speed. I took it to mitsu for a recall and the took some kind of pollution censor out and didn't trick the computer so the check ingenue light stays on. then the  car had a idling problem it would stay at 2000 rpm when i got off the gas had to rev it to make it go down then the car dash lights went out. The day after that the car dies i don't have no lights on the dash except brake and seatbelt light. when i turned it on and off at first the check ingenue come on car would start right up now for about 3 months had mechanics look at it cant find the problem. the lights wont come back on. since the pollution switch is out the check ingenue light suppose to stay on. But when driving on the parkway the light would just cut off car would die had to wait about 5 min to restart. All of these things happened in a matter of 2 months. What would you do.? plaese give advice

Answer
Matt,
There may be a problem in the charging system or within the ignition switch in the steering column.  Have the battery and alternator tested.  If you're still using the original alternator, there's a good chance that alternator is starting to go bad.  Also have the battery and cables to the starter motor tested.

If that does not turn up any clues to the problem, have the ignition switch inspected for short circuits or poor grounds.
Good luck!
