Mitsubishi Repair: 1994 Mitsubishi Montero, mitsubishi montero, car down

My girldfriend drives a 1994 montero she says the car was running fine then after running it for about 5 minutes when she used the brakes the car would stop and the engine would stall. any ideas on what is causing this so when i take it to the mechanic they wont overprice what their going to fix

Seth: Go buy a repair manual on this car, can get one at any parts store for around $20.00. If you don't want to do that then go to your library and look at a manual on your girlfriend's car. It would explain what the problem could be. It take three things to get a car down the road; stark, air and fuel. When is the last time she had a tune up? That would be new stark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor? How old is her battery? But the manual would explain things to you and when you took it to the shop; they could not so easily pull the wool over your eyes. Hope this helps and good luck!
