Mitsubishi Repair: 1998 mitsubishi eclipse Violent shaking, crank angle sensor, mitsubishi eclipse

Question
Hello. I own a 1998 Mitsubishi eclipse rs and its at 97600 miles. About 6 months back my car all of the sudden on the highway started violently shaking when in gear and forced me to tow it. The mechanic i took it to said it was an ignition coil i believe. Well tonight i was on my way home from the store and in both first and second gear it was violent shaking to the point the car seemed it would stall and the check engine light would flicker. once the car got to 3rd gear it would drive normal. I tried to keep it above 3000 rpm and it didn't buck as hard. The clutch seems normal and shifts into gear fine but for some reason until i hit 25-30 mph the engine feels as if its going to buck of the mounts. any help would be greatly appreciated

Answer
Patrick:You need to go and have your car coded. Got an AutoZone close? They will code your car for free. If your check engine light is lighting up even for just a bit. I don't understand why that mechanic thought it was the ignition coil? Sounds more like to me a sensor is getting weak or it could even be your computer. I don't think it has anything to do with your gears as much as the speed you are traveling at. Could be your distributor or crank angle sensor is changing the ignition timing and so the reason your check engine light is kind of timing on. it would make the engine buck if it's timing was off. Did you tell that other mechanic about the light? So have the car coded and find another shop?? Hope this helps and good luck!
