Mitsubishi Repair: 1988 Dodge Ram 50 not firing on all cylinders, camshaft position sensor, blown head gasket

Question
I have a 1988 Ram 50 with a mitsubishi 2.0l engine. It recently stopped fireing on the two center cylinders...I am getting spark to them, but they are dead. I have compression, spark and there is fuel getting to the cylinders (sparkplugs are wet and smell like gas when removed) I have inspected the head and see nothing apparent. Nothing is broken or loose and if cranked over all the valves seem to be functioning. I might add that the unit did have a slight tick to it when it was in running condition. It happened suddenly and I thought that I may have jumped a tooth on the timing belt....not the case timing is setup just the way it should be. If I pull the #2 or #4 or both cyliner spark plug wires off, it sounds the same and runs the same, if I pull 1 or 3 off it just dies. If I remove the spark plug and hold it to ground they both give off a spark like they should. Any ideas would be great.

Answer
Jason: How about the Camshaft position sensor it could be weak or going. Also your computer could be going, it turns out that the mistubishi farmed out the making of their computers to some company. And those computers go bad. Sometimes that shows up in firing problems as well as other things. But if you work on your truck you have to have a manual, check out the part on emsissions and engine control systems. Could be though you can not see anything, you might have a blown head gasket or a bad valve but there is ways to check this before you do rebuild. Then it again it might be a sensor getting weak or something on this order. I had a long time ago one of those Dodge Ram 50, great little pick-up. Hope this helps and good luck!
