Mitsubishi Repair: 2 fuel injectors not injecting, haynes repair manuals, power transistor

Question
91 Eclipse, 2.0,GSX, manual. Only two of my injectors are injecting. Number 2 and 3 injectors are working and 1 and 4 are not. Also, computer was giving me code 44 (coils.) So far I replaced both coil packs, MPI relay next to ECU, plug wires, and the ECU. I have tested power transistor, camshaft position sensor, and TPS. I don't think two injectors would go bad at the same exact time(while driving) and since the coil packs control 1&4 and 2&3 I thought that maybe the injectors are also controlled the same way. I wish I could take it to an auto shop , but money is not available. I love my GSX and I hope that you might have an answer or a direction for me to look next. Thank you. Mike

Answer
Michael,
A common problem with that age of a Mitsubishi is the ECU, but you had mentioned you already replaced it.  It's possible that both injectors could go at the same time.  It would be best to pull the injectors and clean them thoroughly.  I believe there are procedures in the Chiltons and Haynes repair manuals on how to properly clean the injectors.  There are also test procedures you can do to verify the injectors are opening properly.  Applying the proper voltage to correct wires should reveals if they are all working.
Good luck!
