Mitsubishi Repair: Popping out of 5th gear..., 5th gear, transmission shop

94 Eclipse, 1.8 Liter, 5-Speed Manual....
I just bought this car and everything was fine the first week.  We took it down to the coast and as we were passing another car, the shifter popped out of 5th gear.  Since then, I have noticed that it will only stay in 5th gear if I hold it there or as long as I don't apply any pressure to the gas pedal.  I have looked online and everyone seems to have a different opinion as to what might be causing this.
Do you think adjusting the linkage will help or do I need to send her to a tranmission shop?

I would first have the shifter linkage adjusted or repaired if needed.  The linkage nuts can loosen up over time, and cause the gear to pop out; especially in a far gear like 5th.  I don't think you'll need a transmission shop for this issue.
