Mitsubishi Repair: back up lights, amp fuse, clutch replacement

Question
1999 mitsubishi eclipse non turbo 5 speed 2.0 litre. my back up lights dont work i replaced the bulbs and checked the ten amp fuse but they still dont work. i just had the clutch replaced. what do you think is wrong? thanks

Answer
Anthony,
There is a switch inside your transmission that sends a signal to your back-up lights to come on when you shift into reverse.  The harness for that switch must be removed during a clutch replacement.  I believe it's the only eletrical connection that goes to your transmission.  If your mechanic did not properly reconnect that eletrical harness, you will not see your lights come on.  It's also possible the switch was disturbed inside the transmission, but I'm guessing the harness was not connected properly.  I suggest taking your car back to the place that installed your new clutch and ask them to check that switch.
Good luck!
