Mitsubishi Repair: Montero dashboard maintenance light, negative battery cable, mitsubishi montero

Question
I have a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero SR and would like to know how to extinguish (short of removing the bulb!)the Maintenance Required light in the instrument cluster

Answer
Tim,
Your Maintenance Required light is on for a reason.  It may just be a reminded to change your engine oil.  Check your owners manual for the meaning of that light.  It may also be indicating that your car's computer is detecting a problem with your emissions system.  If the Maintenance Required light is just a reminder, your owners manual will tell you how to extinguish it; it's usually an ignition key combination of turns.  Else, you can try to disconnect your negative battery cable for a minute and then reattach it to see if it goes out.  If you cannot get that light to go out, have a mechanic inspect your car to see if there's a problem.  Those lights come on for a good reason and should not be ignored.
Good luck!
