Mitsubishi Repair: my car will only start when its cold, coolant temp, couple seconds

Question
I have a 1997 Mitshubishi Mirage with a manual transmission. My problem is that my car will only start when it is cold, you know after it has set for a long time. After I drive it if I shut it off and then try to start it before it has totaly cooled down I turn it over it runs for just a couple seconds then dies. If I give it gas sometimes it will rev up and run for just a couple seconds longer, but sometimes it just boggs out. Other than the problem of it starting my car is a good car, it runs just fine. Thank you very much for your time, and any information you have that may help me will be very much appriciated.                                                   Sincerly,

Answer
Amanda,
There are a few causes for your problem:

-Ignition module or main EFI relay may be overheating: Replace affected parts.
-Worn Idle Speed Controller (ISC).  This can be tested by your mechanic.
-There is a fuel injection problem: EFI system meeds to be scanned to find problem. Possibly a bad ECM (the car's computer) or Coolant Temp Sensor.

Another common cause is that your starter motor solenoid is worn, and is not conducting enough current to turn over the engine properly when it's hot.  Once you let the starter cool down, it will start the engine fine and stay running.  Have your mechanic check your starter motor.  If you take your car to mechanic, be sure to have them try to start the car as soon as you drop it off so they can see the problem while you're there.  They may be able to tell you what's wrong right on the spot.
Good luck!
