Mitsubishi Repair: 1992 mits expo wont start, expo lrv, vacuum leaks

Question
my 92 expo LRV won't start it has an 1.8 eng with manual trans. VIN# JA3CWD40D0NZ0105957

Their is no spark the dist. is getting power I bought a new dist. didn't help. Do you think its the ECM? If so do you know what other vehicles has the same ECM that I could find at a junk yard. Any other thoughts on what else it could be.

Thanks

Marty

Answer
Marty,
Older Mitsubishis have been known to have ECM problems.  You can read this article for further information:

So there is a chance that your ECM is faulty, and you should inspect it just to be on the safe side.  The Eagle Summit wagon was a similar car as your Expo, but I would not recommend replacing your ECM with any other year, make, model, style, or transmission type as the one you have.  If you do not get an exact match, there is a good chance the replacement ECM will not function properly.

It's also possible that timing is off.  You should also have your fuel pressure checked to be sure fuel is being pumped to your intake.  Verify that your air intake system is free from clogs and that there is no vacuum leaks.
Good luck!
