Mitsubishi Repair: crankshaft screw, bolt holes, framing member

Question
I was adjusting the timing belt and I put the crankshaft screw back on without the pulley. The bolt is to tight to unscrew now. What can I do to loosen it up?

Answer
Roberto,
You didn't mention the car you were performing this on, and I'm not quite sure what you mean by the 'screw'.  If you're referring to the crankshaft nut, you'll have to find a way to lock the crank while to crack the nut free.  If your crank sprocket has bolt holes in it (as most do), you can bolt on a piece of strap steel with a hole in it to the sprocket and then brace the other end of the steel to part of the block or framing member.  This will prevent the crank from moving while you're breaking the nut free.
Good luck!
