Mitsubishi Repair: My engine died out., mitsubishi eclipse, ecu

I have a 91 Mitsubishi Eclipse 1.8 liter automatic  with 126 k miles.  My husband and I went into the store for about 20 minutes and when we came back out the car wouldn't start. For awhile my car has been making a ticking sound around the dashboard. Well my friend told us it was the distributor so we bought it and he put it on and now it still won't start. What could be the problem. Please help.

That ticking noise you were hearing from behind your dashboard may be caused by your car's computer resetting itself.  There's a good chance your car's computer is the problem.  Read this article for further information:

Have your ECU pulled and examined for possible damage.  Have it fixed or replaced if necessary.
