2003 Mitsubishi Galant Automatic 2.4l SOHC:
Hi I've been doing research on the internet on about upgrading the performance on my car. With all that research I became even more confused about what engines fit on my car and what parts are available for it. Here are some questions:

1. Can the AWD 4G63T (91 Galant VR4/Evo engine)  fit into my car
2. Can the TwinTurbo AWD 6G724 fit my into my car
3. Do the turbochargers fit on my current engine
TURBONETICS (T73) T7310782

TURBOCHARGER T3/T4 HYBRID

TURBONETICS (T73) T7310783

TURBOCHARGER T3/T4 HYBRID
TURBONETICS (T73) T7310784

TURBOCHARGER T3/T4 HYBRID
TURBONETICS (T73) T7310785

4.  What would be the  best and cost effective to get more horsepower out of my car for drag racing and autocross.
Answer -
Kay,
First off, if the warranty on that car is still valid, I would recommend you hold off on performing modifications.  Any modifications you add on will immediately void your warranty.

It's possible to put a turbo kit in that car, but it will come at high cost.  I believe there is a site called Dave's Dynopower that sells a kit for your existing engine, but it costs over $3300.  Plus, there is still a lot of work you'll have to put into it to get it installed.

Swapping in a different engine would be an even bigger headache.  I really couldn't tell you switch ones will or won't fit.  Even the older Galant engines would not hook with the existing motor mounts, wiring harnesses, or function properly with the car's computer.  I can almost guarantee the Twin turbo engine from the 3000GT VR-4 will not fit.  It's too big.  If you do get a turbo kit installed, stick with the Mitsubishi turbochargers.

For autocross, not only would you want power for your car, you will need upgraded many, many other items.  For example, your Galant as drum brakes in the rear.  You will need to (somehow) replace those with disc brakes.  You'd also have to drop at least $1000 on upgrading your suspension.  For drag racing, you'd also need to upgrade your suspension.  Drag racing will put an enormous strain on your existing transmission and probably would not last more than a couple years with constaint drag racing.

I hate to say it, but the most cost effective way to get a car for racing would be to sell your current car, buy a cheap, used stock performance car (turbo Eclipse, turbo Galant, or turbo 3000GT) and add a few upgrades to those.  It would actually be cheaper.  It's not the answer you probably want to hear, but I get asked these types of questions a lot this, unforntuately, is the answer I have to give most the times.
Good luck!

Ok cool one more question, what about the VR4 motor for the international 00+ galant , would it fit my car, and would it still be a headache to put into my car.

Answer
Kay,
Like I mentioned previously, I really couldn't tell you which engines would be able to swap into your engine bay.  But I can guarantee that if you tried to swap any engine in your car that's different from the original engine, it would be a huge headache.  Not only would the physical dimensions give you problems, but getting the wiring accurate would be a nightmare.  I would discourage any upgraded engine swaps unless you have a lot of experience and knowledge of engines and your particular car.
Good luck!
