Mitsubishi Repair: 1992 Diamante 3.0 Headlamps malfunction, electrical connections, steering column

Question
Headlamps (hi or lo) will not turn on.  Initially problem was sporatic and rotating the switch on the column would light the lamps. Now doing that has no effect.  Only other potentially relavent history would be the ignition switch, while starting the vehicle, seems to have a moment (a portion of a second) before it engages and turns the starter. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Answer
Al,
Have the headlamps and its electrical connections checked.  Also, have the headlamp relays inspected and replaced if they are faulty.  Malfunctioning relays will cause sporatic problems until they fail completely.  I don't believe the ignition switch would cause this problem unless there is a short somewhere in your steering column wire cluster that is causing numerous problems.  But check the relays first.  Hopefully you'll find your problem there.
Good luck!
