THANKS RICHIE

Answer
Richie,
Yes, you must remove the intake manifold plenum in order to replace 3 of the spark plugs.  You do not need any special tools to remove the manifold, but it's a good idea to get a torque wrench when putting the manifold back on.  Being an aluminum head and manifold, it can crack relatively easily if over-torqued.

Also, when you remove the intake manifold, that would be the perfect time to give it a good cleaning.  Get a can or two of carb cleaner and spray it inside and out to make it nice and clean.  Cleaning the outside is just for looks, but cleaning the inside will allow for less restrictive airflow and possibly restoring some power to the engine.
Good luck!
