Mitsubishi Repair: Montero Sport Head Gasket Replacement, head gasket replacement, montero sport

Hi tim,

I know your expertise is with mirage's, but hopefully you can help me out.  I have a 99 montero sport and just recently it is puffing out white smoke, and my radiator fluid reservior is empty, so i assume it is a bad head gasket.  I am a college student who is really pressed for money, and have a fairly good knowledge of cars.  I was just curious how difficult it would be to replace, and if it is difficult, on average how much would it cost to get replaced.

Hi Daniel,

Usually with smoke like that occuring it's a sign of worn rings on the pistons and recommend replacing so it won't get worse with oil burning and save you time and money in the future. Replacing the head gasket will need replacing anyways  at least i recommend it because to fix this problem of yours it will require to tear down the motor fix but shouldn't take very long if you know what you're doing.I understand your situation with money and you going to college to save it for your loans and to buy books been there done that..lol
