Motorcycle Repair: 1997 royal star

My bike lurches foreward when I shift from neutral to first. also its getting harder to shift into neutral. Whats the most likely problem

Lee it could be as simple as the clutch not adjusted right to release when the lever is pulled or the wrong oil. Worst case would be the clutch needs taken apart and inspected for debris or damage such as discs separating or driver discs warping from heat and slipping not allowing the clutch to disengage.
