Motorcycle Repair: General steering problem, daymak, little tug

Question
Hello, I am thinking of buying a Daymak Saigon 150 cc from a friend. He has put in a new battery and has done the piston rings and head gasket. He is asking $600.00 and we will spit the emision and safety check.I test drove it today and it seems to run very well with lot's of pep but I noticed a glitch when steering the bike. It's like a pan pot on a sound mixer where it has a centre indent that you feel when you are panning from left to right. The bike steering does the same, as you steer from left to right as you pass centre you feel a little tug as it passes centre. He told me it was there from new and that he is used to it and doesn't notice it anymore but for me it was all I did notice and was very distracting.Does that sound like it is normal, I say it is a defect and should have not passed safety when he purchased it.Has anyone experienced this type of issue before. It is a 2008 but he bought it new in 2011.Thank you

Answer
John, It sounds like the head brgs are not set right. They could be loose causing the steering shaft to set crooked in them in a bind when the wheel is straight forward. Or the brgs are to tight causing them to bind up as they may have a worn spot that causes it to bind in the divot or wear spot. Check the tightness first before you decide to eplace the brgs.
