Motorcycle Repair: intruder clutch prob., intruder 1400, screw out

Question
my dad bought a 1994 intruder 1400 with 18k. its always been diffacult to engage first without a hard clunk and bike wanting to creep. clutch is dragging it seems. has new plates and discs, steel braided line and new kits installed in master and slave....to no avail. ive heard of similar problems from other owners. any suggestions will be tried. thank you

Answer
Ken, this is common but try this if you would. Open the master lid and have fresh fluid ready. Pull the bleeder screw out of the slave. Put a little teflon tape around the threads, borrow a small hand vac or if you have access to a brake vaccum bleeder its even better. But a small mity-vac will do. Hook the hose up to the bleeder screw and draw the fluid through "Do not let the reservoir run dry. This should pull any air out that cant be pumped out. Tighten the bleeder screw and pull off hose. Top off the master and pump the lever a little to dislodge any air then put the lid back on.See if this helps..Gary..
