Motorcycle Repair: primary cover gasket change procedures, clutch cable, ironhead

ok 1st of all thank you ,could never afford shop prices
ive got two gaskets for prmiary cover 4 my 84 1000 ironhead
so is it just slack the clutch cable pull bolts out replace the gaskets and goes back on , is there any lil tricks or tips that i need to know??

Dont forget to drain the oil!
I would use some gasket sealer on both sides of the gasket. You should loosen the cable and the adjuster in the primary as well. Once you install the cover make sure you push the clutch cable back towards the cover, so the inner lever is all the way back before trying to adjust it. Then adjust the clutch. Turn it inward, just until it bottoms and then outward about 1/8 of a turn and tighten the locknut. then adjust the cable.
