Motorcycle Repair: Front Brake Caliper Piston Diameter, brake caliper piston, front brake caliper

Question
Recently purchased a 1978 KZ650 four Kawasaki which I am restoring for my daughter. I need a new piston for the front caliper. I measure 40mm deep and 42 mm diameter. Did find one but it says it is for custom application. All other replacements are either 38mm or 40mm. The caliper looks stock. Do you have any knowledge as to if Kawasaki put a 42mm piston in any of their early models. Can't seem to locate any info anywhere. Thanks in advance for your effort...Thanks again,Harold

Answer
I can't give you any first hand information on a Kawasaki product.

There are several listings for calipers on this site:

http://www.cmsnl.com/kawasaki-1978-kz650-b2a_model15492/partslist/64332.html#res

However, the caliper piston seems to only have one part number.

Does it look like this:

Check for more listings at their site: http://www.z1enterprises.com/catalog.aspx?pid=KZ650

I see 3 different 1978 KZ650 bikes listed.

That's about all I have for you....Maybe someone upgraded the front caliper or ?
