how do you compress pressure plate on a 1989 harley fxstn4

Answer
The pressure plate has a plate that goes over it, called the adjuster plate,  with 4 bolts. Tighten the bolts evenly until they are tight.

Just so you know, your clutch spring was not used until 1990, not 1989. I even checked the harley parts Manual. You might have a clutch basket from a newer model.
