Motorcycle Repair: valve adjustment on a 1998 gsxr 750, cam shaft, valve clearances

Question
Where are the timing marks on this bike and what are the valve clearances for both intake and exaust valves? Any help would be respected form an expert such as yourself.
thanks,
Timothy

Answer
Timing marks are under the round cover on the right side center in engine right under cylinders.

Vale clearances that another thing. This is what is called a shim and bucket motor. It works like this, you have a valve.on top of the valve you have a bucket.Lookes like a 55 gallon drum with the open end going over the valve stem.On top of the bucket is a hardened metal disk. the cam shaft rides on the metal disk and the cam pushes it all up and down.To change the valve lash you have to change the shim. I would check with your dealer on the clearances.I would say you could get away with 5 to 7 thousandths of an inch 5 intake 7 exhaust.

This will require special tools.
